Neffex is a production duo consisting of vocalist Brandon “B-Ho” Horth and DJ Cam Wales. They first teamed up in a punk rock band at the age of 15 and then reunited in 2015 to form Neffex and haven’t faltered since. Neffex is a very active music band on either “youtube” or “spotify” nowadays. The hottest single song named “Rumors” got more than 30 million views on youtube, and the number is still increasing. Still, on youtube, “NEFFEX Music” has around 1.5 million subscribers in its channel. It’s interesting to mention that this band planned to update one song per week, and it actually made it 100 songs in 100 weeks. Besides, Neffex claims their songs are free to either download or use for non-commercial activities. “We’re hoping to provide high-quality music in great quantities, with genre diversity.” This is what Neffex said. The category of this band is quite simple, “electronic music”, “digital music”, “R&B music” are the tags of this band. Due to the category is in teens’ favor, various social media connections are required to keep this band alive among all those bands that teens appreciate. Then this blog is going to explain how Neffex uses the various social media to make itself part of the media environment.
As this blog mentioned above, this band is pretty active, but still not as popular as main stream bands which are able to get on stages in real life. Lack of practical performance in public is one of the reason that this band is only known by certain amount of people. Another reason would be that Neffex was producing musics that they are interested in, instead of music that most people appreciate. But the most understandable reason is that they did not realize that social media could expand the group of subscribers that much.
Before Neffex decided to join twitter, apple music or spotify, it was only uploading music on youtube. Back in the day, there were much fewer users who know the name or songs. With the effort they made, Neffex got those invitations from spotify and apple music, finally, the popularity got expanded. From the changes of Neffex’s popularity, it’s not hard to tell that the social media played an important role. Since the band itself wants to get promoted, it chose to join more platforms to increase the accessibility for public. And public responds quickly, Neffex got on the right track of getting known by more people outside.

Neffex get things moving right from the start, utilizing an upbeat yet simple drum pattern and aggressive electric guitar-like synths to drive the track forward. A male voice raps over the beat, talking about a bad trip in typical party rap fashion. While the rapping on “Messed Up” may have fallen a bit short lyrically, it does keep things interesting throughout by filling in the spaces in Neffex’s production. Consisting of electronic elements which are in favor of teens, the sick and hot profile picture that can attract attentions and the vocals with power, the whole song is tuned as a popular modern outline. Apparently, this song became one of the best product of this musical team.

From the charts that shows the popularity of Neffex, we can see that with more often social media activities, Neffex is getting more popular and famous relatively. In another word, social media took Neffex to a whole different level, to meet with more musical fans and artists outside. The spread speed as we can see from the chat is insanely fast. The number of views and subs is increasing consistently.
A lot of teens show appreciations on either the album pictures or the lyric from Neffex. Fresh and creative stuffs keep the band alive!
In conclusion, Neffex has already been in media environment with no doubt. Online comments and reactions show that Neffex is still growing. As this blog mentioned above, by using social media like tweeting the new updates, uploading its work on different platform and contracting with other music players, the popularity of Neffex got expanded. In the end, I want to share my favorite song from Neffex!
